Re-Coded: Studio Rocker

On display are works by American architecture students from the University of Pennsylvania.

The point of departure for their designs was the existing Aedes East Extension Pavillon, the site of this exhibition, which nps tchoban voss Architekten, Berlin had designed as a neutral medium, a “Blank Canvas”, ten years ago. Re-coded: Studio Rocker developed a contrary architectural position, which neither premised a blankness of the exhibition site, nor a blankness of the canvases on which architects design.

The exhibition, Re-coded: Studio Rocker, presents an architecture based on the inherent logic of logarithms. Instead, the studio researched in how far architecture and media always inform each other respectively. In vain of this question, the free play of symbols becomes the foundation for the material generation of form and space. Free from all material and perceptual constraints, particularly symbolic orders allow innovative material and perceptive realizations to emerge.
The participants are: Nia Garner, Winna Japardi, Jong Kouk Kim, Matthew Krissel, Barry Gartin, Loren Supp, Brandon Williams, Katharine Ives.

Project management Studio Rocker: Ingeborg m Rocker (contact: [email protected]) Project management Aedes: Isolde Nagel.
