Yasmine Mahmoudieh, Berlin

The exhibition "Design as an Overall Concept" shows selected projects by the Berlin interior designer Yasmine Mahmoudieh, MD, such as hotels, shopping centres, office buildings and exhibition architecture.

Yasmine Mahmoudieh, who studied architecture and design at UCLA in California, focuses on a holistic concept in all her projects. She is not only concerned with creating aesthetically sophisticated spaces that are appropriate to the task at hand, but also with developing a targeted design for each project that has a positive impact on the quality of living, working and life. Combining authenticity with innovative solutions is at the heart of Mahmoudieh Design's conception. In many cases, Y. Mahmoudieh develops the entire utilisation concept in addition to the interior design, which ensures a seamless transition from idea to execution.

In the exhibition, which is designed in the form of an installation, the following projects, among others, are shown.

In the renovation of the Radisson SAS Royal Copenhagen, completed last year, Mahmoudieh Design retained the 1950s style of world-renowned architect Arne Jakobsen, who would have turned 100 this month, creating an outstanding design hotel in the heart of Denmark.

The Radisson SAS Berlin ("Domaquaree"), expected to be completed in 2003/2004, is a modern design hotel with "Berlin objectivity", for business travellers as well as Berlin tourists. The 18 m high aquarium in the entrance area is the highest in the world.

The much-discussed project of the "Hotel am Obersalzberg", Berchtesgaden, which is still in the design phase, will be a hotel that is entirely oriented towards the comfort and relaxation of its guests, without, however, disregarding the harmony with the unmistakably beautiful landscape. The interior designer will work mainly with natural materials. Completion date is 2005.

The Design Hotel Rheinsberg "Haus am See" is an unusual project. The hotel for the disabled is aesthetically incomparable to conventional facilities of this kind. The client was the Fürst von Donnersmarck Foundation. The project was completed in 2001.

At the Millenium Center, Budapest, a connection with the culture and tradition of the country was created through the use of unusual materials and an extraordinary lighting concept. The beautiful old structure of the building was also incorporated.

For the Garbe office, Mahmoudieh Design created the concept for a comprehensive office renovation on 1200sqm. The combination of aesthetics and functionality as well as a fancy lighting concept determine the character of the project.
